About
Mission & History
Community Counseling Services of California Lutheran University has a threefold mission: to provide high quality, affordable counseling services to members of our community; to offer exceptional training opportunities for our Master's and Doctoral level students; and to serve as an active center of clinical research.
Community Counseling Services was founded in 1986 by a dedicated group of faculty and students on the Thousand Oaks. In April 2010, the Oxnard clinic opened to expand access to counseling services throughout the region. In 2014, the Thousand Oaks clinic relocated to Westlake Village, where it continued to grow and serve the community.
In the summer of 2026, the two clinics reunited on California Lutheran University's main campus in Thousand Oaks, bringing together decades of experience, training and community service under one roof. This transition marks an exciting new chapter as we continue to grow and thrive while providing ongoing support to both our clients and clinicians.
Community Counseling Services offers bilingual counseling services to adults, children, adolescents, couples, and families throughour the community. Our greatest source of referrals has alwyas been our satisfied clients, who share their positive experiences and recommend our services to others seeking support. Their trust and confidence in our clinic have helped shape our success over the years. We are grateful for this legacy and remain committed to providing compassionate, high-quality care for generations to come.
